The Road to Europe:
Program of Accounting Reform and Institutional Strengthening
(REPARIS) is a regional program aimed at creating a transparent policy environment and effective institutional framework for corporate reporting within South Central and South East Europe. Participating countries/entities include Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, and Serbia.
REPARIS is designed around the introduction, implementation, and effective enforcement of relevant portions of the EU acquis communautaire with a view to contribute to foreign direct and portfolio investment, foster private and financial sector developments, improve the business environment and investment climate, and facilitate potential integration into (or harmonization with) the European Union.
REPARIS is part of the
Centre for Financial Reporting Reform (CFRR) located in Vienna, Austria. It is responsible for the World Bank's corporate sector financial reporting activities in Europe and Central Asia (ECA). The Centre provides knowledge services and capacity development assistance. Services include analytical and advisory services, learning and skill development, know-how and knowledge transfer, and technical assistance and institutional strengthening.
Albania is actively involved in the activities of REPARIS, since its creation. The Ministry of Finance is the main institution which leads the national reforms in the financial reporting and auditing. The cooperation of the MoF with the REPARIS program has facilitated a supporting environment for the reforms, and has paved the way for concrete implementation activities in the future. The members of the National Steering Committee for Financial Reporting reform, headed by the Deputy Minister Mr. Nezir Haldeda, has been participating and contributing in various CoPs events and other activities of REPARIS.
